Four teenagers have been arrested following a cross-border police pursuit overnight.
About 8.40pm (Sunday 27 March 2022), officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District – with the assistance of Queensland PolAir – observed a white Mazda CX5 travelling south on the M1 Motorway at Tweed Heads.
It’s understood the vehicle had been stolen from a Brisbane property earlier that same day.
Police initiated a pursuit with the vehicle allegedly travelling at speeds of approximately 175km/hr in a sign-posted 110km/hr zone.
The Mazda turned onto the Tweed Valley Way at Yelgun, before approaching Murwillumbah.
The vehicle turned onto West End Street, where it came to a stop, and police arrested four persons without incident.
All four teenagers – aged between 14 and 17 – were taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.

Two teenage girls, aged 14 and 15, were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The two older girls were refused bail, while the younger girl was granted conditional bail – all due to appear at a children’s court today (Monday 28 March 2022).
A 15-year-old boy was dealt with under the Youth Offenders Act.
