NSW police arrest man after intimidation incidents at Fairfield and Smithfield

A man has been arrested after he allegedly intimated and threatened a number of people on two occasions at Fairfield and Smithfield yesterday.

About 5.20pm (Monday 23 December 2019), a 24-year-old woman was driving on Court Road, Fairfield, attempting to merge into the lane when a collision occurred between her car and another vehicle.

Both drivers pulled over to the side of the road and the 53-year-old male driver of the other vehicle allegedly spat at the female driver and verbally abused her.

The man returned to his car and left before attending an address in Marlborough Street, Smithfield.

A short time later, police further allege that the 53-year-old man- while armed with a knife- verbally abused two men, as they walked past him in Marlborough Street.

The 53-year-old man returned to his car and allegedly drove towards the pair forcing them to take evasive action. He threatened the men, swinging the knife in their direction before leaving the scene.

The men reported the incident to police and an investigation commenced.

Police from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended a unit in Marlborough Street and arrested the man.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with assault and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (x4).

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Tuesday 24 December 2019).
