A man has been arrested in Sydney’s northern suburbs as officers continue inquiries into a police car being rammed at Padstow.
About 4.50pm (Tuesday 21 July 2020), a Traffic and Highway Patrol car stopped a Nissan Patrol dual cab on Davies Road, Padstow, after it was seen driving on the wrong side of the road.
As an officer was approaching the utility, the driver allegedly reversed into the police car before driving away.
Police commenced a pursuit for a short distance before the ute stopped on the road and again allegedly reversed into the Traffic and Highway Patrol car before driving away and the pursuit was terminated.
An appeal for assistance from the public was made overnight, and just after 9.30am today (Wednesday 22 July 2020), an off-duty police officer reported a ute matching the description of the vehicle involved in the alleged incident at Padstow, was travelling on the Pacific Highway at Gordon.
Officers attached to Kuring-gai Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended and stopped the ute on the corner of Woodbury St and Mona Vale Road, St Ives and arrested the driver.
The 48-year-old man has been taken to Hornsby Police Station.
Investigations are continuing.
