Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged four men following an investigation into an alleged home invasion and kidnapping in Sydney’s west and northwest earlier this year.
About 9.20pm on Monday 26 September 2022, two men allegedly forced entry to the second-storey bedroom of a home in Caddens, where they threatened a 29-year-old man with a handgun.
The man was able to free himself before he ran from the property and the two men left in a dark hatchback.
Local police initiated inquiries, before the matter was referred to detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Ghinni.
As part of ongoing inquiries, detectives also commenced an investigation into the kidnapping of a man last month.
Police have been told about 1.20pm on Wednesday 12 October, the man was approached by four males – one of which was armed with a handgun – in a carpark on Morrison Road, Ryde. He was assaulted and taken in a vehicle to an unknown location, where he was threatened and assaulted further.
The man has since recovered from his injuries.
Following further inquiries, strike force detectives – assisted by Tactical Operations Unit, Public Order Riot Squad, Raptor Squad and Operation Support Group – executed 11 search warrants at homes in Revesby, Lidcombe, Strathfield, Girraween, Villawood, Botany, North Ryde, and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾bush, from 6am today (Wednesday 16 November 2022).
During the warrants, officers seized a number of items including three firearms, a machete, ammunition, more than $30,000 cash, two vehicles, and mobile phones, which will undergo forensic examination.
Four males – aged 32, 31, 29, and 17 – were arrested at homes in Revesby, Lidcombe and Strathfield.

A 17-year-old boy was taken Bankstown Police Station and charged with conspiracy to commit offence in company robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence-weapon, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and possess unauthorised pistol.
They were both refused bail, with the older man due to appear at Bankstown Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 17 November 2022), while the teenage boy will appear at a children’s court tomorrow.
A 31-year-old man was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with conspiracy to commit offence in company robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence-weapon, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
A 32-year-old man was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with accessory after the fact of kidnap in company with intent serious indictable offence occasion actual bodily harm, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and two counts of possess unauthorised pistol.
Both men were refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 17 November 2022).
It will be further alleged in court the group were conspiring to kidnap another man in the coming weeks.
Investigations under Strike Force Ghinni are continuing.
