Four people have been arrested as part of investigations into an alleged drug supply operation in the Monaro region.
In June 2019, Strike Force Wangalla was established by the Southern Region Enforcement Squad to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs within the Monaro Police District.
Following extensive investigations, strike force officers arrested a teenager and three women over their alleged involvement in the supply of ‘ice’, cannabis and MDMA throughout the region.
About 5.45am yesterday (Thursday 7 November 2019) a 33-year-old woman was arrested during a vehicle stop in Queanbeyan. A search of the woman’s Toyota Prado led to the seizure of almost a kilogram of cannabis allegedly secreted in the vehicle.
The woman was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station and charged with 27 counts of supply prohibited drug. She was granted strict conditional bail and is due to face Queanbeyan Local Court on 16 December 2019.
Shortly after, officers executed a search warrant in Boronia street Karabar where they allegedly located and seized drugs and cash.
A 53-year-old woman was arrested at the property before being taken to Queanbeyan Police Station, where she was charged with supply prohibited drugs. The woman was granted strict conditional bail and is due to face Queanbeyan Local Court on 16 December 2019.
About 9.30am, strike force investigators executed a search warrant at a home on Jordan Place, Queanbeyan.
Officers allegedly located and seized drugs, weapons (knuckle dusters), electronic surveillance equipment, mobile phones and cash.
A 33-year-old woman was charged with 67 counts of drug supply, three counts of ongoing supply, knowingly expose child to drugs and three traffic offences.
She was refused bail to appear before Queanbeyan Local Court today (Friday 8 November 2019).
A 17-year-old boy at the property was charged with possess prohibited drug, 12 counts of drug supply and two counts of ongoing supply. He was granted strict conditional bail and will face a Children’s Court at a later date.
Police inquiries are continuing and further charges are expected to be laid.
