A man has been charged with aggravated break and enter in Petersham on Thursday.
About 9am (Thursday 5 December 2019), a man allegedly entered a home on New Canterbury Road where he moved through rooms, before taking a knife from a drawer in the kitchen.
The man then entered a bedroom of the home, where a 42-year-old woman was sleeping, before allegedly taking a small amount of cash and a mobile phone.
The woman woke up and the man left the scene.
Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command attended a short time later and established a crime scene.
Following inquiries, a man was identified who was known to police.
About 8pm yesterday (Friday 6 December 2019), a 26-year-old man attended St Mary’s Police Station to report on bail where he was arrested in relation to the Petersham incident.
The man was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence – armed.
He was refused bail to appear in Penrith Local Court today (Saturday 7 December 2019).
