NSW police charge man after domestic-related stabbing at Forster

A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing a woman in a carpark during a domestic-related incident on the Mid North Coast yesterday.

About 7.30pm (Friday 27 June 2020), emergency services were called to the carpark on Beach Street, Forster, after reports a woman had been injured.

Police will allege the 21-year-old woman was parked in the carpark with a friend, when she was confronted by the man, known to her, and stabbed in the back.

When her friend, a 22-year-old woman, went to her aid, she was allegedly threatened with the knife and had her mobile phone taken during an altercation with the man.

The injured woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for two stab wounds and taken to Manning Base Hospital before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Manning Great Lakes Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.

Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a home on Carribean Street, Forster, about 1.30am today (Saturday 27 June 2020).

He was taken to Forster Police Station, where he was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon, wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and two counts of contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 28 June 2020).
