A man will appear in court today charged after a teenage girl was allegedly threatened with a firearm in Sydney’s west earlier this week.
On Wednesday evening (19 August 2020), officers from Cumberland Police Area Command commenced an investigation after reports a 16-year-old girl had been threatened – verbally and with a firearm – by a man known to her.
Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 29-year-old man at a home on Fowler Road, Guildford, about 12.40pm yesterday (Thursday 20 August 2020). He was taken to Granville Police Station.
A search warrant was executed at the home, where police seized two pistols, a sawn-off shotgun, and ammunition, that will undergo forensic examination.
The man was charged with 13 offences including, take person intend serious indictable offence, possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, two counts of possess unauthorised pistol, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit, use carriage service to menace/harass/offend, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, common assault (DV), demand property by force with intent to steal, robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance and assault person with intent to commit serious indictable offence (DV).
Police will allege in court that on Wednesday night, the man called the 16-year-old girl and threatened her, before he organised for her to be picked up and driven to his home. The girl complied and once at the home, the man took the teenagers phone and allegedly threatened her with a firearm.
A short time later, another man picked up the girl from the Guildford home, and police were notified soon after. No one was physically injured.
He was refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court today (Friday 21 August 2020).
