A man has been charged after a home invasion in the state’s south yesterday.
About 7.50pm (Sunday 5 January 2020), police were told a man attended a residence on Lyne Street, Lavington and allegedly smashed a window at the location.
After a brief interaction with the resident, during which the man allegedly made threats to harm him, the man left.
About 11.45pm that same night, the man returned to the location and allegedly climbed into the residence through the broken window, armed with a razor.
He allegedly threatened the resident and threw pieces of broken glass at him before he sought refuge in a bedroom.
The resident contacted police after the man left the location and officers attached to Murray River Police District attended and established a crime scene.
Police located the man in an adjoining unit and he was arrested following a short standoff.
The 24-year-old man was taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent intent to commit serious indictable offence – armed, stalk/intimidate with intent to cause physical harm and offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.
He was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today (Monday 6 January 2020).
