NSW police charge man after hotel manager glassed near Albury

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged glassing near Albury.

About 8.45pm on Thursday 4 June 2020, police were called to licensed premises on Wagga Road, Lavington, following reports of an assault.

Police have been told the manager of the premises, a man aged in his 20s, requested a patron leave an area of the premises due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The patron allegedly verbally abused the manager, then hit him in the face with a schooner glass which shattered on impact.

The manager was treated at Albury Base Hospital for cuts to his face.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, about 5.45pm on Tuesday (9 June 2020), a 21-year-old man was arrested at Albury Police Station.

He was charged with use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and excluded person fail to leave premises when he required.

The man was refused bail by police and appeared briefly in Albury Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 10 June 2020), where he was granted conditional bail to re-appear on Monday 6 July 2020.
