NSW police charge man after investigation into sexual abuse of 30 July

A Lake Macquarie man will face court today charged following an investigation into the sexual abuse of a child last year.

In November 2019, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes squad commenced an investigation following a report that 12-year-old girl had been sexually abused by a man known to her.

Following extensive inquiries, a 25-year-old man was arrested by investigators at Wyong Police Station about 4.30pm yesterday (Thursday 16 July 2020).

He was charged with seven counts of have sexual intercourse with child (aged between 10 and 14).

Police will allege in court that the man provided the girl with prohibited drugs before having sexual intercourse with her on several occasions over a four-day period in September 2019.

He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today (Friday 17 July 2020).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
