NSW police charge man after south west Sydney pursuit

A Fairfield Heights man is facing court today on nine offences after a police pursuit through south-western Sydney yesterday.

Around 1.30pm (Monday 3 June 2019), police were travelling west on Milperra Road at Milperra when they saw a white utility with false number plates. The utility driver did not stop when directed to do so.

A low-speed pursuit began and travelled through several suburbs. During the pursuit, three police vehicles and a parked civilian car were hit by the utility in separate collisions. There no were no reports of injury.

Road spikes were successfully deployed. The utility eventually stopped outside Fairfield Hospital where the driver and sole occupant was arrested.

The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station.

He was charged with not stopping a vehicle when directed to do so – police pursuit, police pursuit not stop – drive dangerously, drive manner dangerous, using an offensive weapon to avoid apprehension, negligent driving, using a Class A vehicle with unauthorised registration plates, using an unregistered vehicle, licence expired less than two years before first offence, destroy or damage property.

The 25–year-old Fairfield Heights man was refused bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court later today
