NSW police charge man after stabbing near Shellharbour

A man has been charged over the alleged stabbing of another man in the Illawarra yesterday.

Just before 1.30pm (Thursday 23 May 2019), police and emergency services were called to a business on Shellharbour Road, Barrack Heights, after reports a man had been injured.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and found a 26-year-old man suffering stab wounds to his arm and leg.

Police will allege in court that the 26-year old man was injured when he attempted to break up an altercation between two other men outside the store.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Shellharbour Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, police attended a home on Roycroft Avenue, Mount Warrigal, and arrested a 36-year-old man.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with two counts of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 24 May 2019).

It’s believed the men involved are all known to each other.
