A man will face court today after allegedly throwing a water jug at a Magistrate in the Children’s Court at Parramatta.
About 11am yesterday (Tuesday 2 July 2019), police were responded to reports of an incident in the courtroom, which occurred during care proceedings involving his children.
On arrival, police took custody of a 39-year-old man, who had been detained by NSW Sheriffs.
Police were told the man became agitated and allegedly made threats toward the Magistrate before throwing a water jug from the bar table.
The jug narrowly missed the Magistrate and smashed on the wall behind the bench. The Sheriff’s officer apprehended the man immediately before handing him over to police.
The Parramatta man was taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with common assault and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today (Wednesday 3 July 2019).
