A 29-year-old Westmead man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a woman near Central Railway Station last year.
At 3.40pm on Wednesday 21 August 2019, police were told a man approached the woman and began talking to her in the pedestrian tunnel after leaving Central Railway Station.
The man followed her to a nearby university and allegedly attempted to pull her into a coffee shop by grabbing the back of her hair, before trying to give her a hug.
The woman eventually broke free and ran away, alerting police.
The man was last seen walking back through the university and towards George Street, Ultimo.
Officers attached to the Police Transport Command commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries and a public appeal, the man was arrested at Granville Police Station at 11am today (Thursday 21 May 2020).
He was charged with common assault and granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 29 July 2020.
