NSW police charge man over burnout near Albury

A man has been charged after allegedly conducting a burnout in the Murray River region at the weekend.

Just before 5.30pm Sunday (24 October 2021), officers attached to Murray River Highway Patrol were patrolling Union Road, Lavington, when they noticed a parked Chrysler 300 sedan.

Police will allege the vehicle suddenly accelerated harshly, causing the rear wheels to lose traction and spin on the bitumen.

The driver’s action caused a significant amount of smoke over the roadway, blocking vision for other motorists.

The driver – a 59-year-old man – was issued a Court Attendance Notice for aggravated burnout and is due to appear in Albury Local Court on Monday 15 November 2021.

The Lavington man’s NSW driver’s licence was also suspended, and the vehicle seized until January 2022.
