NSW police charge man over sexual abuse of woman and two girls at Kempsey

A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged sexual abuse of two girls and a woman on the state’s Mid North Coast.

In October 2019, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a young girl was sexually assaulted by a man known to her.

During the course of the investigation, officers received reports a further girl and woman had been sexually assaulted by the man, who was also known to them.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 34-year-old man at Kempsey about 12.45pm yesterday (Thursday 2 January 2020).

He was taken to Kempsey Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse with person under age of 10 years (DV), aggravated sex assault- victim under the age of 16 years, have sexual intercourse with person between 14 and 16 years, aggravated sex assault- threat to inflict actual bodily harm with weapon, sexual intercourse without consent (x3).

Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted two girls – aged five and 14 – and a woman – aged between 22 and 24 – between 2006 and 2015.

He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today (Friday 3 January 2020).

Investigations are continuing.
