NSW police charge man over sexual abuse of young woman in Sydney City PAC

A man has been charged following an investigation into the sexual abuse of a woman in Sydney.

Earlier this month, detectives from Sydney City Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports a woman had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her.

Following extensive investigations, Sydney City detectives arrested a 22-year-old man at a home at Strathfield about 8.30am last Monday (16 December 2019).

The man was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with two counts of aggravated sex assault – inflict actual bodily harm on victim, seven counts of sexual intercourse without consent, intentionally choke etc person without consent, two counts of sexually touch another person without consent, three counts of intentionally distribute intimate image without consent, and two counts of use carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

Police will allege in court that the man subjected the woman to sexual abuse with escalating violence since August before sexually assaulting her at a function in Sydney CBD on Tuesday 12 November 2019.

It’s further alleged that the man threatened the woman over the phone following the assault.

He was refused bail and appeared at Burwood Local Court, where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at Central Local Court on Thursday 20 February 2020.

Investigations are ongoing.
