A third man will face court today following a police operation targeting carjacking and property offences in the Albury-Wodonga area.
Operation Bleach was formed in June 2019 to investigate multiple break and enter offences and car-jackings within the Murray River Police District.
A 29-year-old man was arrested in Albury yesterday (Monday 8 July 2019) after allegedly committing a number of offences throughout Wagga Wagga, Albury and Wodonga.
About 6am yesterday (Monday 8 July), the 29-year-old man allegedly attempted to steal an ATM from a service station in Wagga Wagga.
The man was driving a black utility vehicle, believed to be stolen, and travelled to Albury before allegedly failing to pay for petrol at a service station in Glenroy.
About 1pm the man was observed driving into an unmarked police vehicle in the Wodonga area, before proceeding back to Albury where he crashed the utility vehicle he was driving.
The man then allegedly carjacked another motorist and continued to commit further offences, including a further three carjackings and two attempted carjackings.
About 4pm the man crashed in the vicinity of St James Place in Albury.
Police engaged in a foot pursuit and arrested the man as he was attempting to steal another vehicle.
The man was charged with 40 offences relating to break, enter and steal; police pursuits; multiple carjackings and dangerous driving. He was bail refused and is due to appear before Albury Local Court today (Tuesday 9 July 2019).
