A man will face court today charged with allegedly sexually abusing a teenage girl in the Illawarra.
Late last year (Wednesday 11 December 2019) a search warrant was executed at a home in Thirroul as part of an investigation by Wollongong Police District into alleged child abuse offences.
During the course of the warrant, officers located and seized electronic devices for forensic examination. A man was arrested at the time and is now before the courts.
Last month (Saturday 8 February 2020), a woman reported to police that a man had sexually abused her on a number of occasions in 2008, when she was 14-years-old.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives yesterday (Wednesday 4 March 2020) arrested a 31-year-old man in Tarrawanna.
Police will allege in court the man had a number of folders on his computer containing child abuse material.
He was taken to Wollongong Police Station, where he was charged with procure child for unlawful sexual activity, four counts of have sexual intercourse with person between 14 and 16 and possess child abuse material.
He was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (5 March 2020).
Inquiries are continuing.
