NSW police charge man with weapon offences at Thurgoona

A man has been charged for allegedly brandishing a weapon in public in the state’s south.

About 1.30pm yesterday (Thursday 28 November 2019), officers attached to Murray River Police District attended Thurgoona Plaza in Thurgoona following reports a man was acting aggressively and carrying weapons.

Police will allege in court the man was carrying a number of knives and a tomahawk and was acting aggressively towards centre staff and members of the public.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with possess knife, possess drug, use etc offensive weapon with the intention to commit indictable offence, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and have custody of an offensive implement in a public place.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Albury Local Court today (Friday 29 November 2019).
