A man allegedly carrying more than 1000 MDMA capsules, LSD, and a knife is one of six people charged with drug supply following a proactive operation at Transmission Music Festival.
The high-visibility police operation was conducted from 5pm yesterday (Saturday 8 February 2020) at Transmission Music Festival, which was held at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.
The operation involved officers from South West Metropolitan Region, as well as the Police Transport Command and the Dog Unit.
During the police operation, 32 people were processed for drug possession, including nine Drug Criminal Infringement Notices (CINs) issued, two people were charged with fail to quit, and 45 people were ejected from the venue with two of those later charged with excluded person re-enter.

Following a drug dog detection, a 19-year-old man was searched with officers allegedly locating 1005 MDMA capsules packaged in condoms and hidden in his pants and underwear, while LSD tabs, and a credit card knife were located in his wallet. The Strathfield man was charged with supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity, possess prohibited drug, and custody of knife in public place.
Following a drug dog detection, a 19-year-old man was searched with officers allegedly locating 287 MDMA capsules in a vacuum sealed package and concealed in his underwear, and $100 cash. The Fairfield man was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable to commercial quantity, possess prohibited drug, and deal with property proceeds of crime.
They have been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 9 February 2020).
A 31-year-old man was approached by officers who believed they witnessed the man supply prohibited drugs. During a subsequent search of the man and his bum bag, police located 195 MDMA capsules and $790 cash. The Wallacia man was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable to commercial quantity and deal with property proceeds of crime.
He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday (13 February 2020).
Following a drug dog detection, police identified that an 18-year-old woman had internally concealed 180 MDMA capsules. The Greenacre woman was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable to commercial quantity.
She was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 9 March 2020.
An 18-year-old man was spoken to by police before he was searched with officers allegedly locating 201 MDMA capsules in a clear package in his underwear. The Hinchinbrook man was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable to commercial quantity and possess prohibited drug.
He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 16 March 2020.
A 33-year-old man was spoken to by police and searched, with officers allegedly locating 10 MDMA capsules and a laser pointer. The man, who is from Fisher in ACT, was issued a Court Attendance Notice for supply prohibited drug to appear at court at a later date.
Despite the actions of a small number of attendees, officers noted the 12,000-strong crowd was generally well-behaved.
