A teenager has been charged with manslaughter after a man died in a fire at a shopping centre on the state’s Central Coast earlier this year.
Emergency services were called to a shopping centre on The Entrance Road, The Entrance, about 4.30pm on Sunday 20 October 2019, following reports of a building fire.
A 69-year-old man was found inside a shop within the building.
NSW Fire and Rescue officers dragged the man outside and commenced CPR, however, he was unable to be revived.
Detectives from the Financial Crimes Squad’s Arson Unit and Tuggerah Lakes Police District established Strike Force Zorianna to investigate the blaze.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives arrested a 13-year-old boy at Wyong Police Station about 8.30am today (Monday 9 December 2019).
He was charged with manslaughter and refused bail to appear at a children’s court today.
Investigations are continuing.
