NSW police charge teen over thefts, pursuit, car fire at Bourke

A teenager has been charged over alleged break-ins and thefts in the state’s west.

On Friday 25 November 2022, police have been told a home in Oxley Street, Bourke, was broken into, where house keys and a bag were allegedly stolen.

A crime scene was established, with officers from Central North Police District commencing an investigation.

Early yesterday (Monday 5 December 2022), police were called to another property in Oxley Street, Bourke, after it was allegedly broken into and several items were stolen, including a Toyota RAV4 SUV.

Police will allege in court that the Toyota was driving dangerously in Bourke and engaged in a police pursuit that was terminated due to safety concerns.

The vehicle was later found damaged by fire.

Following extensive inquiries, police attended a home in Bourke and arrested a 15-year-old boy this afternoon (Tuesday 6 December 2022).

He was taken to Bourke Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of break enter and steal, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, police pursuit-not stop- drive recklessly, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and damage property by fire.

The boy was refused bail to appear before a Children’s Court tomorrow (Wednesday 7 December 2022).
