NSW police charge teen with string of break and enters at Wagga Wagga

A teen will face court today charged with a string of break and enter offences allegedly committed in stolen cars in the state’s south west.

About 11pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 June 2020), three homes were reportedly broken into in the Junee area.

A Ford Fiesta was reported stolen from one of the homes, and later found abandoned on Hammond Avenue, Junee.

About 3am (Thursday 11 June 2020), a Toyota Yaris was stolen from a fifth break and enter in Junee.

Officers from Riverina Police District attended and attempted to stop the vehicle before engaging in a brief pursuit. The pursuit was terminated a short time later for safety reasons.

Police sighted the vehicle at a petrol station on Edward Street, Wagga Wagga and a teenage boy allegedly fled the scene on foot.

Three additional homes were broken into across Wagga Wagga, before police located the teen in the front yard of a home on Hardy Avenue and placed him under arrest.

The 17-year-old boy was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with:

– Break and enter (x8),

– Take and drive conveyance without consent (x2),

– Police pursuit,

– Fraud,

– Possess prohibited drug,

– Breach of bail.

He was refused bail and is due to face a children’s court tomorrow (Friday 12 June 2020).
