Three men have been charged after prohibited drugs with a street value of $1.2 million were seized in Sydney’s west yesterday.
About 12.20pm yesterday (Thursday 14 October 2021), detectives from Fairfield City Police Area Command stopped a vehicle on Madeleine Street, Fairfield.
Officers spoke with the driver – a 28-year-old man – and in a subsequent search of the vehicle, located 830g of cocaine in a hidden compartment.
The Cabramatta man was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), two counts of supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), and two counts of supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity). He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Friday 15 October 2021).
As part of ongoing inquiries, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad stopped a Subaru sedan at Smithfield Road, near King Road, about 3.30pm yesterday.
In a subsequent search of the Subaru, detectives seized 22 envelopes containing more than 12g of methylamphetamine (ice) and nearly 17g of heroin, with a combined estimated potential street value of $9,000.
The driver – a 31-year-old Fairfield West man – was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with four counts of supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), two counts of supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime. He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today.
About 4.45pm, a further two men were arrested during a third vehicle stop at Canley Heights.
During a search of the Mercedes, officers located $5240 cash and nearly 4g of cocaine.
A 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station, while the other man was released pending further inquiries.
The Bankstown man was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), supply prohibited drug two counts of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime. He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today.
Also during the operation, Organised Crime Squad detectives, together with officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command and South West Metropolitan Region Operations Support Groups (OSG), executed a search warrant at a property at Allenby Street, Canley Heights.
With assistance from specialist police attached to the Drug and Firearms Squad’s Chemical Operations Team, the property was examined and dismantled.
During the search, police seized 2.7kg of methylamphetamine (ice), 2kg of pseudoephedrine, 1.1kg of heroin, 570g of cocaine and nearly 220g of MDMA.
The combined estimated potential street value of the drugs seized at Canley Heights is $1.2 million.
Officers also seized a cash counter, electronic devices and $35,390 cash.
All items will undergo further examination as investigations continue.
