More than 50 charges have been laid following an investigation into the supply of methylamphetamine (‘ice’) in the state’s far south.
Investigators attached to the Murray River Police District Drug Unit established Strike Force Reichert in June 2019, targeting the supply of prohibited drugs in rural towns across southern NSW.
As a result of investigations, police attended a residence in Howlong about 8.50am yesterday (Thursday 15 August 2019) and arrested a 37-year-old man in the surrounding streets.
Police executed a search warrant shortly after, where they located and seized ice, cannabis, ecstasy, cash and prohibited weapons.
A 39-year-old woman and 49-year-old man were arrested at the residence and taken to Albury Police Station with the 37-year-old man.
The 37-year-old man was charged with 35 counts of drug supply, participate in criminal group, possess prohibited drug, take part in large commercial supply and ongoing supply.
The 37-year-old woman was charged with 26 counts of drug supply, participate in criminal group, take part in large commercial supply, possess prohibited weapons, possess prohibited drug.
The 49-year-old man was charged with seven counts of drug supply, participate in criminal group and possess prohibited drug.
All three were refused bail to appear before Albury Local Court today (Friday 15 August 2019).
Murray River Police District Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Winston Woodward praised the efforts of police and the local community.
“We rely on information from community members and hard work by our local police in matters such as these, and in this case we have seen great success,” Inspector Woodward said.
“We are stopping the flow of drugs through rural areas, one drug dealer at a time, and we won’t be stopping anytime soon.”
