Wetherill Park RES investigators have charged two men and seized more than 1kg of heroin and over $185,000 cash, as part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.
In December 2019, officers from Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad (RES) established Strike Force Hama to investigate and target the supply of prohibited drugs, mainly heroin, across Sydney.
Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested a 35-year-old man following a vehicle stop on Avoca Road at Canley Vale about 2.40pm on Wednesday (13 May 2020).
A short time later, strike force investigators, with assistance from the Operations Support Group (OSG), executed a search warrant at a home at Greenfield Park.
During the search, investigators seized 619g of heroin, $107,860 cash and documentation.
The man was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), deal with property proceeds of crime and organises/conducts etc drug premises expose child.
Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the supply of heroin across Sydney.
He appeared at Fairfield Local Court yesterday (Thursday 14 May 2020), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday 16 July 2020.
As part of ongoing investigations, Wetherill Park RES investigators executed a further search warrant at a home at Canley Vale just before 1pm on Thursday (14 May 2020).
During the search, officers seized 446g of heroin, equipment consistent with the supply of prohibited drugs and nearly $80,000 cash.
A 65-year-old man was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), owner/occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises, deal with property proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug.
Police will allege in court that the man was also involved in the supply of heroin across Sydney.
The man was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Friday 15 May 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Hama are continuing.
