NSW Police have charged two men after seizing six handguns, nearly $90,000 cash and heroin valued at $30,000 following an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs.
In May this year, officers attached to North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad established Strike Force Sauvignon to investigate the commercial supply of prohibited drugs – mainly heroin and methylamphetamine (ice) – across Sydney.
Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives stopped a vehicle at Brunker Road, Greenacre, about 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 17 November 2021).
During a search of the vehicle, police seized nearly $10,500 cash, three mobile phones and white powder, believed to be heroin.
The driver – a 34-year-old Burwood man – was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station, where he was charged with seven counts of supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), two counts of supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), supply prohibited drug, two counts of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and possess unauthorised pistol.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 18 November 2021).
Subsequently, strike force investigators executed three search warrants at properties at Burwood and Bankstown.
During the searches, officers seized $89,000 cash, six handguns – including five pistols and a revolver – and ammunition.
Officers also seized more than 620g of heroin and more than 270g of methylamphetamine (ice), with a combined estimated potential street value of $130,000.
Designer watches, clothing and handbags, as well as gold bullion, a money counter and documentation were also seized.
All items will undergo further examination.
Just after 5pm, police conducted a secondary vehicle stop and arrested the driver of an Audi SQ5 at Meredith Street, Bankstown.
The 32-year-old Bankstown man was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with four counts of possess unauthorised pistol and possess more than 3 unregistered firearms – 1 is prohibited/pistol.
The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Thursday 18 November 2021).
Investigations under Strike Force Sauvignon are continuing.
