NSW police charge two men with property offences at Menangle

Two men have been charged with property offences after they were found on private property in Sydney’s south west yesterday.

About 2pm (Wednesday 3 November 2021), officers attached to Camden Proactive Crime Team responded to an alarm activated on a private property on Stevens Road, Menangle.

Shortly after, police located and arrested two men – aged 36 and 40.

Upon searching the men, police located a black bag containing a flick knife and wire cutters.

A grey Toyota Hilux utility was also found parked on the outside of the property, with police observing the number plate to be deliberately obscured.

Upon searching the vehicle, police located multiple knives, including a bowie knife, a hunting knife, a military style machete, a pocketknife, and a Stanley knife. Police also located resealable bags containing marijuana and methylamphetamine, a crowbar, baton, and other drug paraphernalia.

The two men were taken to Narellen Police Station where they were charged with the following offences:

The younger man was charged with enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence, possess housebreaking implements, larceny, two counts of custody of knife in public place, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, use class A vehicle displaying altered number-plate, and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

The older man was charged with four counts of goods suspected stolen in/on premises (motor vehicle), enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence, possess housebreaking implements, larceny, custody of knife in public place – subsequent offence, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, found with intent to commit indictable offence previous conviction, two counts of possess prohibited drug, use class A vehicle displaying altered number-plate, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle)

Both men, from Bringelly, were refused bail to appear in Picton Local Court today (Thursday 4 November 2021).
