Police investigating multiple break and enters targeting small business in south-west Sydney have charged two men after a vehicle stop in Merrylands.
Between 17 September and 18 October 2019, more than 14 commercial break and enters occurred on small business across the Cumberland and Fairfield City Police Area Commands, with cash stolen.
Following extensive inquiries, officers from Cumberland PAC stopped a rental utility on McFarlane Street, Merrylands, 8:40am yesterday (Friday 18 October 2019), and arrested two men.
When the ute was searched police seized drugs, property alleged to have been stolen and clothing. Officers also located methyl amphetamine, cash and two mobile phones when one of the men was searched.
Both men were taken to Granville Police Station where a 38-year-old man has been charged with 14 offences including 12 of break, enter and steal, and one each of supply a prohibited drug and possess a prohibited drug.
A 52-year-old man has been charged with nine offences:
• Possess housebreaking implements
• Destroy or damage property
• Enter enclosed land without lawful excuse
• Larceny
• Receive/dispose stolen property
• Possess prohibited drug
• Possession of equipment for administering prohibited drugs
• Drive while disqualified (two counts).
The men, both from Guildford, have been bail refused to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 19 October 2019).
