Two men have been charged following an investigation into drug supply in the state’s south.
In August 2019, detectives from Murray River Police District established Strike Force Googumbla to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs, namely cocaine, ‘ice’ and MDMA in the Deniliquin and Albury areas.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators arrested two men – aged 21 and 26 – at a service station on Travel Stop Way, Lavington, about 11am yesterday (Thursday 17 September 2020).
The 26-year-old man was allegedly found to be in possession of four ounces of cocaine, with a further two ounces and two large hunting knives located in his car.
They were taken to Albury Police Station.
The 21-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug and carry cutting weapon upon apprehension.
The 26-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, supply prohibited drug (x5), possess prohibited drug, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and knowingly direct activities of criminal group.
Police will allege in court that the men were involved in the supply of cocaine and MDMA in the Albury area.
The pair were refused bail and are due to face Albury Local Court today (Friday 18 September 2020).
