NSW police charge woman after child approach incident at Bankstown

A woman has been charged after allegedly leading a two-year-old child away from a cafe in a shopping centre at Bankstown yesterday.

About 12.45pm (Wednesday 6 November 2019), a woman was with her son at a café inside the shopping precinct when a woman approached her son.

It’s alleged the woman grabbed hold of his hand and led the child away.

The child’s mother chased after the woman and grabbed hold of her son; the woman fled from the location.

An investigation was commenced after the child’s mother attended Ryde Police Station yesterday afternoon to report the incident.

About 10.30am today (Thursday 7 November 2019), police attended the shopping complex at Bankstown and arrested a 34-year-old woman.

She was taken to Bankstown Police Station where she was charged with common assault and trespass.

She was refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court tomorrow (Friday 8 November 2019).
