A woman has been charged with two separate PCA offences after being stopped twice by police in the state’s north last night.
About 11pm (Friday 20 November 2020), officers attached to New England Police District saw a blue Mercedes Benz, bearing QLD registration, stopped on the side of Gwydir Highway, Inverell.
Officers stopped and spoke with the driver, a 30-year-old woman from Labrador in Queensland.
Inquiries led police to conduct a breath test on the driver, which returned a positive result.
The woman was arrested and taken to Inverell Police Station where she was subjected to a breath analysis, and allegedly returned a high-range reading of 0.171.
She was charged with high-range PCA.
Further investigations revealed the driver had been detected driving with a mid-range PCA of 0.115 at Tenterfield, about 160km north-east of Inverell, about 6pm earlier the same day.
The woman was subsequently suspended from driving in NSW and the keys of the Mercedes Benz were seized by police.
She was granted conditional bail to appear before Tenterfield Local Court on Thursday 28 January 2021.
