The bodies of two men have been discovered inside a submerged vehicle found in a canal near Griffith in the state’s Riverina region yesterday.
Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District received a report yesterday (Monday 10 August 2020), of two men, both aged in the 50s, missing from the Griffith area since Saturday 8August 2020.
As inquiries commenced, police were alerted to a vehicle that was found on its roof submerged in water in a canal on Mansell Road, Hanwood, about 5.30pm (Monday 10 August 2020).
A closer inspection of the vehicle revealed the bodies of two men inside.
Early investigations suggest the vehicle has run off the road and crashed into the canal killing the driver and his passenger.
Due to the difficult terrain, the extraction of the vehicle will commence this morning (Tuesday 11 August 2020), with the assistance of the Volunteer Rescue Association.
Inquiries continue.
