Investigations are underway following a stabbing in the state’s Central West.
About 5am (Wednesday 30 October 2019), emergency services were called to licensed premises on Main Street, Lithgow, following reports of an assault.
Police have been told two men – aged 22 and 57 – were involved in a physical altercation, where the younger man sustained stab wounds and left the scene prior to police arriving.
Officers from Chiefly Police District attended and arrested a 57-year-old man at the scene. He was taken to Lithgow Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.
About 6am, the younger man attended Lithgow Hospital for treatment. He was transferred to Nepean Hospital in a stable condition.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
The men are believed to be known to each other.
