NSW police investigating after man stabbed, vehicles stolen

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was stabbed and two vehicles stolen from the state’s west.

On Saturday 8 February 2020, a leased white Hyundai i30 hatchback was stolen in Bathurst.

About 5.20am yesterday (Wednesday 12 February 2020), the Hyundai was used to drive into the doors of a service station in Elsham Drive, Orange; however, the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene empty-handed.

About 5.45am yesterday, three males forced their way into a shed in Rossi Drive, Clifton Grove, and threatened the sole occupant, a 37-year-old man.

The males then stabbed the man before stealing his Holden Commodore and driving from the scene.

The 37-year-old man was taken to Orange Hospital, suffering stab wounds to his back, torso and hand, and remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Central West Police District were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, the Holden Commodore was spotted travelling on The Escort Way, about 20km west of Orange, just after 7am yesterday.

A police pursuit was commenced; however, it was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

Witnesses reported to police that the Holden Commodore stopped at a service station in Parkes but drove away without paying for petrol about 8.15am yesterday.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision of these incidents to come forward.
