A teen has been charged following an investigation into a crash that killed a man in Sydney’s west last weekend.
Just after 9pm on Saturday 19 February 2022, emergency services were called to Silverdale Road, Silverdale, after reports a northbound Mazda6 sedan and a southbound Subaru station-wagon having collided near Avoca Road.
An 18-year-old man, who was a front-seat passenger in the sedan, died at the scene.
The driver of the sedan, a 17-year-old man, suffered wrist and facial injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment and underwent mandatory testing.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 54-year-old man, was also taken to Liverpool Hospital as a precaution and underwent mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene and with the assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Following extensive inquiries, the 17-year-old man was arrested at Penrith Police Station about 2pm this afternoon (Friday 25 February 2022), and charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death- speed over 45 over limit, dangerous driving occasioning death- drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).
The teen is due to appear at a Local Court on Thursday 10 March 2022.
