A man will face court today charged after allegedly breaking into a unit complex and using a stolen credit card across Sydney’s south-west.
About 8am on Wednesday 25 December 2019, police will allege a man broke into an underground carpark at a unit complex in Smallwood Avenue, ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾bush, and stole personal identification, including credit cards, from a vehicle.
The cards were allegedly used eight times at service stations at suburbs across Sydney’s south-west.
Officers from Auburn Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a unit in Brunker Road, Yagoona, about 8.20am yesterday (Thursday 30 January 2020).
During the search, officers located a double-barrel shotgun, and ammunition. These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.
Just after 11am yesterday, a 41-year-old man was arrested at Auburn Police Station.
He was charged with 10 offences, including:
- aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal,
- larceny,
- destroy or damage property,
- dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception,
- drive while licence suspended,
- fail or refuse to disclose identity as required,
- stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm,
- possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority,
- not keep firearm safely – prohibited firearm, and
- possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.
Police will allege in court that the man also produced a firearm during a domestic-related incident and threatened a 39-year-old woman in Yagoona on Monday 13 January 2020.
He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 31 January 2020).
