Police have arrested and charged man after he was allegedly caught putting a hidden camera in a Miranda shopping centre change room last month.
A 23-year-old woman noticed what appeared to be a cigarette packet fitted with a camera on the floor of her clothing store change room on Thursday 31 October 2019; she then saw a man reach from the adjoining cubicle and move the cigarette packet.
She alerted staff, who confronted a man but he left the store.
The woman reported the incident to officers at Sutherland Shire Police Area Command who began investigations.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 28-year-old man at a house in Kobina Avenue, Glenmore Park, about 8.30am today (Friday 8 November 2019).
Officers also executed a search warrant, seizing clothing, mobile phones, a laptop computer and a hard drive which have all been taken for forensic examination; they will allege images of women in clothing store changes rooms were found on a mobile phone.
The man was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with film persons private parts without consent, and drive an unregistered motor vehicle.
He was granted conditional bail and is due before Penrith Local Court on Tuesday 26 November 2019.
