NSW police lay charges after police pursuit on state’s south coast

A man wanted for alleged domestic violence matters has been charged after a police pursuit on the state’s south coast last night.

On Monday (22 July 2019), police from South Coast Police District were called to a Bomaderry address for a domestic disturbance.

As a result of investigations, officers began making inquiries to locate a 30-year-old man.

About 8pm yesterday (Friday 26 July 2019), police saw a Mitsubishi Mirage driving in a dangerous manner on The Wool Road, Vincentia.

It’s alleged when officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, it failed to stop, and a pursuit commenced.

The chase continued through St Georges Basin, Basin View, Bewong, Wandandian, and Tullawalla, before being terminated due to safety concerns in Jerrawangala.

About 10pm, police attended a Fishermans Paradise address, where they arrested a 30-year-old man.

He was taken to Nowra Police Station, where he was charged with:

– Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly (Skye’s Law),

– Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous,

– Drive while licence cancelled,

– Common assault (DV),

– Stalk/intimidate,

– Destroy or damage property (DV) and;

– Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Nowra Local Court today (Saturday 27 July 2019), where bail was formally refused.

He is next due to appear before the same court on Monday (29 July 2019).
