The October phase of a high visibility police operation in the state’s north west was conducted yesterday as police endeavour to stamp out crime within rural communities.
Operation Wagonwheel 2019 was conducted in the Werris Creek and Quirindi sector yesterday (Thursday 24 October 2019), targeting antisocial behaviour, drug and traffic enforcement, and general compliance.
During the one-day operation, officers attached to Oxley Police District searched seven people, two vehicles, issued 10 traffic infringements, made nine bail compliance checks and executed two outstanding warrants.
Police also conducted 26 random drug tests, made 16 ADVO compliance checks, and conducted four business inspections.
Yesterday afternoon (Thursday 24 October 2019), officers attached to Oxley Police District attended a motel at Quirindi following reports of suspicious activity occurring within a room of the facility.
Police spoke with the female occupant of the room before conducting a search for illegal items.
During the search, it is police located ammunition.
About 6.15pm, police returned to the location and spoke with a 36-year-old man who was charged with possess ammunition without holding a licence.
He was issued a field court attendance notice to appear before Quirindi Local Court on Wednesday 20 November 2019.
