NSW police pursuit, firearm and drugs seized; Man and woman charged

A man and a woman have been charged following a pursuit with police in Chester Hill today.

About 11am today (Wednesday 2 September 2020), police were alerted to a silver Corolla travelling on Orchard Road, Chester Hill.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attempted to pull the vehicle over; however, it failed to stop.

A pursuit was initiated, and police will allege, that as the vehicle continued along Kamira Avenue and drugs were thrown from the car. As the vehicle turned onto Koonoona Avenue a firearm was also thrown out the window.

The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns, and police were able to locate and seize a .22 sawn-off shotgun, along with an amount of methamphetamine.

About 1.30pm today, the Corolla was found parked on Edmondson Crescent in Carramar. Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command, with the assistance of officers from Fairfield, arrested a man, aged 48, and a 27-year-old woman.

The man has been charged with multiple offences,

  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly
  • Supply prohibited drug
  • Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm
  • Possess unregistered firearm
  • Possess loaded firearm in a public place
  • Not keep firearm safe
  • Acquire ammunition
  • Acquire prohibited firearm
  • Possess prescribed restricted substance
  • Deal with proceeds of crime, and
  • Not disclose identity of driver/passenger.

He was refused bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court today (Thursday 3 September 2020).

The woman was charged with possess prohibited drug and deal with proceeds of crime and was granted bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday 23 September 2020.
