Police are appealing for information as they re-investigate a serious assault on the state’s south coast that left a man partially blind almost nine years ago.
During a recent review of cold cases within the South Coast Police District, detectives began to re-investigate the circumstances surrounding a serious assault at Sanctuary Point.
Just after 8.30pm on Friday 29 October 2010, emergency services were called to the intersection of Leumeah and Edmund Streets, following reports a man was injured.
Investigations have revealed that Glen Pool, now aged 48, was hit in the head with a wooden stake with such force that it broke.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Shoalhaven Hospital. He was later transferred to Wollongong Hospital.
Mr Pool suffered a number of serious injuries; including skull fractures, bleeding on the brain, and blindness to the right eye.
As inquiries into the assault continue, investigators are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet come forward, or anyone with information that may assist.
