Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate the elderly owner of a house destroyed by fire in the state’s north.
About 2.30am yesterday (Tuesday 5 October 2021), emergency services were called to a home on Anne Street, Moree, following reports of a fire.
Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze about 5.30am (Tuesday 5 October 2021); however, the building was completely destroyed.
No injuries have been reported.
Officers attached to New England Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As part of inquiries, police are appealing for public assistance to help locate the owner and sole occupant of the home, a 75-year-old man.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of medium build, with thinning, blond hair.
He may be travelling in a black Saab station wagon – NSW registration BQ52VJ – and could be in the Moonee Beach or Woolgoolga areas.
