NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) and Infrastructure NSW (INSW) have been acknowledged for their innovative partnership approach to build community awareness and preparedness in the most flood exposed area of NSW.
Last week’s Annual was held via live webcast to recognise excellence in emergency communication. INSW, in collaboration with the NSW SES received a ‘highly commended’ award for the .
Over the last three years, the program has involved 37 project partners and had 300 participating organisations on 19 projects. It has delivered long lasting resources such a tool, a , a suite of , and advertising campaign assets. It has strengthened and extended networks across agencies and the community, and has built the capacity of local councils and community service providers to respond to a flood emergency.
Local NSW SES Units (Hawkesbury, Penrith, Blacktown, Mt Druitt, The Hills and the Blue Mountains) and their members have been crucial in providing local expertise, knowledge and community engagement opportunities to connect with and further build flood risk awareness and local capacity amongst the community.
