NSW suppliers showcased at inaugural Focus on Greater China event

The delegates are set to attend a two-day workshop held in Sydney to meet with 41 export ready NSW tourism suppliers at the Sofitel Darling Harbour, from 5-6 September.

NSW suppliers will include some of Sydney’s most iconic tours, attractions, hotels and restaurants to our spectacular regional areas, such as the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Port Stephens, the Hunter Region and South Coast, showcasing the versatility of our State’s offerings through one-to-one appointments.

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the workshop provided a forum for NSW’s tourism suppliers to give agents a first-hand taste of our thriving State.

“The event was created as part of Destination NSW’s International Business Development Program to showcase Sydney, NSW products and destinations to key Greater China trade partners, further driving visitation to Australia’s leading tourism State,” Mr Ayres said.

“Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan are key markets for NSW, delivering 975,700 visitors who spent an estimated $4.45 billion in NSW, in the year ending March 2019.”

The official proceedings will be followed by a dinner featuring NSW produce, held at Pier One Sydney Harbour, where delegates will be enchanted with uninterrupted views of Sydney Harbour.

Destination NSW CEO Sandra Chipchase said the work of the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency continued to provide NSW businesses with the opportunity to sell the their products to the world.

“Our International Business Development Program encourages an increased presence of NSW products, experiences and destinations in our key markets, educating international wholesalers and front-line agents about NSW tourism products and destination suppliers, equipping them with a better understanding of the outstanding visitor experiences available in NSW,” Ms Chipchase said.

As part of their trip, the agents were also taken on a range of familiarisation programs across NSW, ensuring they were able to authentically experience the best of our NSW bush, country and coastline across Australia’s most unique State.
