There were 286 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Northern Territory in the 24 hours to 8pm on 23 January 2022. Of these, 238 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test.
This takes the number of active cases in the NT to 3,900.
New cases recorded include:
· 2 cases in Galiwinku
· 19 cases in Gunyangara (Ski Beach)
· 1 case in Wurrumiyanga
· 3 cases in Milikapiti
· 1 case in Utopia
· 2 cases in Amoonguna
· 10 cases in Yuendumu
· 2 cases in Yuelamu
· 3 cases in Nhulunbuy and Yirrkala
· 1 case in Maningrida
· 7 cases in Pine Creek & Kybrook Farm
· 7 cases at the Alice Springs Correctional Centre
· 1 case in Ntaria
· 10 cases at Batten Road Short Stay Accommodation in Darwin
· 1 case in Alyangula
· 12 cases at the Barkly Work Camp
· 2 cases from town camps in the Central Australia Region
There are currently 78 patients in hospital, with eight patients requiring oxygen. There are four patients in ICU.
954 COVID-19 PCR tests were processed across the NT yesterday.
Public health measures
A Territory-wide indoor mask mandate remains in place.
Several lockouts and lockdowns are in place across the Territory to control the spread of COVID-19.
Lockdowns in Gunyangara, Utopia ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾lands, and Wurrumiyanga will end on Saturday 29 January.
Lockouts in Alice Springs, Amoonguna, Yuendumu, and Yuelamu are in place and will end Sunday 30 January.
A lockdown in Galiwinku will end on Monday 31 January.
COVID-19 testing
Everyone should get tested for COVID-19 if showing symptoms. A number of NT Rapid Antigen Testing and Distribution Points have been established.
Individuals can collect RATs for free from NT distribution centres located in Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek.
