Eighteen high-achieving young Territorians have been selected to join the 2020 NT Youth Round Table.
The NT Youth Round Table provides direct communication between young Territorians and the Northern Territory Government and is coordinated through Territory Families’ Office of Youth Affairs.
The Round Table members, aged 15-25, represent the geographic and cultural diversity of the Northern Territory, with representation from Darwin, Palmerston and the rural area, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Galiwinku, Nhulunbuy and Alice Springs.
This weekend, members will meet for the first time to identify and discuss topics important to them and their communities. Their fourth and final meeting will occur in November 2020, and provides the members with an opportunity to present their year-long community-based projects and recommendations to representatives from the Northern Territory Government and other key stakeholders.
Territory Families Chief Executive Ken Davies said that this opportunity provides a platform for young people to have their voices heard and make a difference.
“These young people are the Territory’s future leaders and by giving them the opportunity to identify key issues that are important to them and their peers now, we’re enabling them to shape the Territory for their future,” he said.
“I would like to congratulate and welcome all 18 members and wish them luck on their 12 month journey.”
