As part of its inquiry into nuclear power generation in Australia, the House of Representatives Select Committee on Nuclear Energy will conduct public hearings in Collie and Perth in Western Australia on 16 and 17 December 2024.
Chair of the Committee, Mr Dan Repacholi MP, the Federal Member for Hunter, said “over the past month we have travelled to regions earmarked by the Federal Coalition as potential sites for future nuclear power plants. We wanted to hear from communities about their values and concerns about potentially introducing nuclear for their towns.”
“We’ve heard a range of views and appreciate the high level of engagement in the inquiry and in discussions about Australia’s future energy mix.”
The hearings can be accessed online.
Programs for all hearings and further information about the inquiry, including the inquiry terms of reference, are available on the Committee’s website.
